The New York Yankees officially signed outfielder Chris Young to a one-year deal, the team announced Sunday.
The team did not disclose financial terms of the deal, but ESPN's Buster Olney reported (see stack below) Saturday that Young will cash in $2.5 million, plus incentives, for his services. Bob Nightengale of USA Today Sports reports that Young can earn up to $6.325 million next season if he reaches all of his incentive benchmarks.
The 30-year-old thrived after the Yankees picked up him following his release from the New York Mets, slashing .282/.354/.521 with three home runs in 23 games.
