Brandon Crawford's first career big-league hit was a grand slam, but it may no longer be the most memorable slam of his career. The San Francisco Giants shortstop opened the scoring in the National League wild-card game with a bases-loaded blast off Pittsburgh Pirates right-hander Edinson Volquez, spotting his team a 4-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning.
Crawford's grand slam is the first ever by a shortstop in postseason play.
Ironically, the last grand slam in a winner-take-all playoff game was off the bat of teammate Buster Posey in Game 5 of the 2012 the National League Division Series vs. the Cincinnati Reds.
