Tampa Bay Rays shortstop Yunel Escobar avoided significant damage to his left knee after exiting Tuesday's game following an unorthodox slide into home plate.

Escobar, who was the casualty of a fantastic throw by Boston Red Sox left fielder Yoenis Cespedes, had his left knee buckle while trying to avoid a tag and was removed from the game.
