Nationals' Span leaves game Tuesday as a precaution after scraping knee

The Washington Nationals aren't expected to be without one of their most impactful players heading into the playoffs, as outfielder Denard Span's departure from Tuesday's game was simply a precaution:

Span was removed in the third inning after making a tremendous catch on the warning track that resulted in the injury.

Entering Tuesday, the 30-year-old is hitting .298/.352/.413 with 38 doubles, 37 RBI and 31 stolen bases in 143 games.
