Penciled in as the Cincinnati Reds starting centerfielder in 2014, Billy Hamilton is spending his offseason focusing on a skill that will allow him to exploit his greatest asset: speed.
"I've been working on my bunting a lot more, and me and him are doing things with my hitting that will help me out this season," Hamilton told Mark Sheldon of MLB.com. "When Spring Training comes, I will be ready."
With just 13 big-league games under his belt, Hamilton managed to steal 13 bases during his late-season call-up. But with a limited sample size, the speedy centerfielder must still prove that he can reach base at the professional level in order to preface his name with "every day."
Alas, should Hamilton become prolific in hitting defenses where they are typically most vulnerable, he could add the title, while rendering the bunt indefensible.
