Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Andy Pages was placed on the 10-day injured list with a fractured left hand Saturday.
Alek Thomas was recalled in a corresponding move.
Pages sustained the injury on a 100-mph hit-by-pitch from Bubba Chandler in the third inning against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday.
Pages initially stayed in the game but was replaced defensively by Enriqué Hernández at the beginning of the fifth frame.
"I would expect him back, knowing him, on the earlier side," manager Dave Roberts said after estimating a four-to-five week time frame, according to MLB.com's Sonja Chen. "There's still time in the season for him to be back. But I feel for him because he was having such a good year and he likes to play. But yeah, we've got to move on and hold down the fort until he's back.”
The 25-year-old slugger has been a key contributor for the defending champions, hitting .272/.338/.458 with 21 homers and 12 stolen bases.
Thomas will be making his Dodgers debut after being acquired from the division-rival Arizona Diamondbacks in May. Over 448 career MLB games, the 26-year-old is hitting .230/.273/.361 with 31 home runs and 28 stolen bases.
