New York Yankees right-hander Cam Schlittler won't pitch in Tuesday's All-Star Game, manager Aaron Boone told The Athletic's Brendan Kuty.
Schlittler is healthy but doesn't want to pitch between his regularly scheduled starts, according to Boone. Schlittler threw 6.2 innings Saturday against the Washington Nationals.
The 25-year-old was a candidate to start for the American League at the Midsummer Classic in Philadelphia. Schlittler is 9-5 across 20 starts this season and leads the AL with a 2.05 ERA, 0.944 WHIP, and 4.2 WAR.
Schlittler made his MLB debut last July and quickly evolved into the Yankees' top starter. He was a seventh-round draft pick of the club in 2022.
