Blue Jays announcer roasts Yankees during broadcast: 'Not a good team'
Toronto Blue Jays color commentator Buck Martinez took an unprovoked shot at the New York Yankees during Tuesday's game between the Jays and Houston Astros.
The broadcast booth was discussing the AL East race between the Blue Jays and Yankees during the seventh inning, and Martinez didn't have anything nice to say about the Bronx Bombers.
"The Yankees, they're not a good team. I don't care what their record is. They have a lot of wild pitches. They make a lot of mistakes in the field. They don't run the bases very well." - Blue Jays commentator Buck Martinez calls down the thunder 🔥 pic.twitter.com/hlnIpP0ygr

"You know, the Yankees, they're not a good team," Martinez said. "I don't care what their record is. They have a lot of wild pitches, they make a lot of mistakes in the field, they don't run the bases very well. If they don't hit home runs, they don't have a chance to win."
The Yankees were in the midst of a 12-2 drubbing at the hands of the Detroit Tigers when Martinez made his comments. The Blue Jays orchestrated a comeback win Tuesday that extended their division lead to three games.
The Blue Jays are 83-61 on the year while the Yankees are 80-64. Toronto and New York won't meet again in 2025 unless they cross paths in the playoffs. The Blue Jays won the season series 8-5, including a four-game sweep in July.
