The San Francisco Giants are making veteran starter Justin Verlander available for trade before Thursday's deadline, according to MLB Network's Jon Morosi.

Verlander joined the Giants on a one-year, $15-million deal this past offseason, marking his 20th MLB season. However, the 42-year-old didn't earn a victory until his 17th start this campaign and owns a 1-8 record with a 4.53 ERA over 89 innings.

The Giants entered Wednesday's contest against the Pittsburgh Pirates at 54-54, five games back of a wild-card spot in the National League.

Verlander's agreement with San Francisco includes full no-trade protection, according to Cot's Baseball Contracts.

The three-time Cy Young winner has plenty of playoff experience if he wishes to join a contender. Verlander won a pair of World Series titles (2017, 2022) during his tenure with the Houston Astros and owns a career 3.58 ERA in 38 postseason games.
