Dodgers designate Taylor for assignment, activate Edman
The Los Angeles Dodgers announced Sunday that they designated utility man Chris Taylor for assignment.
Tommy Edman was reinstated from the injured list after missing 16 games with an ankle injury in a corresponding move.
The Dodgers also selected the contract of pitcher Lou Trivino, with reliever Kirby Yates headed to the IL with a hamstring issue, sources told Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic.
Taylor, 34, had been with the Dodgers since 2016. He became the organization's longest-tenured player after catcher Austin Barnes was designated for assignment Wednesday.
The veteran was slashing .200/.200/.257 with zero home runs and two RBIs in 35 plate appearances in the final season of the four-year, $60-million contract he signed ahead of the 2022 campaign.
Taylor was an All-Star in 2021 and recorded a .761 OPS (105 OPS+) during his decade-long tenure in Los Angeles.
