Twins' Keaschall fractures forearm on HBP

Minnesota Twins rookie Luke Keaschall sustained a broken right forearm when he was hit by a pitch in Friday's game against the Los Angeles Angels.

Keaschall had been a huge offensive spark for the Twins after he was recalled from Triple-A. His five steals in the first five games of his career are tied for the most since at least 1901.

"Honestly, I thought I was fine," Keaschall said, according to The Associated Press. "Like, I kind of got hit, was running the bases and I'm like, 'It's just going to be a little sore. I’ll be good.' And then it wasn’t."

The 22-year-old is slashing .368/.538/.526 with three doubles, four runs scored, and two RBIs across 19 at-bats.

Keaschall is Minnesota's No. 3 prospect, according to MLB.com, and is ranked 57th among the top-100 prospects in baseball.

The Twins are acquiring infielder Kody Clemens from the Philadelphia Phillies, sources told The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal.

Clemens, who was designated for assignment earlier this week, gives Twins manager Rocco Baldelli another bat off the bench with Keaschall sidelined.
