New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman admitted there isn't much pitching out there as the club looks at potentially replacing the void left by Gerrit Cole's season-ending injury.
"We'll just evaluate what's available, and this time of year, very little is available," Cashman said Tuesday, according to MLB.com's Bryan Hoch. "Normally, the more significant opportunities don't exist until the trade deadline."
Cole will miss the 2025 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery. The Yankees will also be without right-hander Luis Gil for at least three months after he sustained a lat injury earlier in the spring.
The Yankees are currently expected to begin the regular season with a rotation that includes Max Fried, Carlos Rodón, Marcus Stroman, Clarke Schmidt, and Will Warren. Veterans Carlos Carrasco and Allan Winans are also in the organization to potentially make starts.
"We'll rely on what we have, and we'll explore what is limited available in the marketplace," Cashman said.
