Takahashi elected free agency, Baseball America reports.
Takahashi was traded to the Rockies in June but never saw time with the big club, as he labored at Triple-A Colorado Springs with a devilish 6.66 ERA over 25.2 innings. The 38-year-old probably won't appear in the big leagues again and may elect to call it a career.
