Kirby also allowed a pair of home runs to Tigers outfielder Kerry Carpenter, who was playing his first game since May 26 after missing time due to a back injury.
Following the game, Kirby was ready to turn the page and rebound in his next outing.
"I'm f-----g excited for Pittsburgh next week, I'll tell you that," Kirby said, per Adam Jude of the Seattle Times.
Only six of the 11 runs against Kirby were earned after the Mariners were charged with an error following the game. The Tigers eventually won the game 15-1.
Kirby's rough outing raised his season ERA from 3.13 to 3.42 in 144 2/3 innings.
