Mariners' Rodríguez reinstated from IL
The Seattle Mariners reinstated star outfielder Julio Rodríguez from the injured list in time for Sunday's series finale against the New York Mets, the team announced.
Rodríguez is batting fourth and at designated hitter for Sunday's game.
Infielder Ryan Bliss was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma in a corresponding move.
Rodríguez has been sidelined since July 21 after sustaining a high ankle sprain while trying to make a catch in center field.
The 23-year-old has 11 home runs, 37 RBIs, 18 stolen bases, and a .687 OPS in 100 contests this season. Rodríguez was heating up before the injury, hitting .375 with four home runs and eight RBIs over a 15-game stretch.
The Mariners have won three straight contests and are tied with the Houston Astros for top spot in the AL West.
Seattle's game with New York will be broadcast on ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball. It marks the first time since 2004 that a Mariners home game will be the Sunday night feature.
