The Baltimore Orioles have infielder J.D. Davis to a minor-league deal, the team announced Wednesday.
The Orioles will be the fourth organization Davis has been with this season.
The San Francisco Giants cut the 31-year-old in spring training, leading him to sign with the Oakland Athletics to begin the regular season. The New York Yankees acquired Davis in a June trade before designating him for assignment to clear a roster spot for Jazz Chisholm Jr. The Yankees released him last week.
Davis posted a .670 OPS in 39 games with Oakland but slashed a dismal .105/.227/.158 in seven contests with New York.
The eight-year veteran owns a career 111 OPS+.
Davis, who has experience playing left field, third, and first base, could provide the Orioles with insurance if he's called up, as the team is still without All-Star third baseman Jordan Westburg and Jorge Mateo.
Baltimore entered Wednesday a half-game back of the first-place Yankees in the AL East.
