The Houston Astros traded for New York Yankees reliever Caleb Ferguson in exchange for minor-league pitcher Kelly Austin and international pool money, the team announced Tuesday.
Ferguson struggled to a 5.13 ERA and 1.5 WHIP across 33 1/3 innings in his first season with New York. However, the lefty owns a 114 ERA+ and 10.8 K/9 across six MLB seasons.
The 27-year-old will be a free agent once the season ends.
Austin, a 23-year-old right-hander, has pitched to a 2.70 ERA and 1.09 WHIP in 26 2/3 innings at High-A.
