The Arizona Diamondbacks acquired first baseman Josh Bell from the Miami Marlins for cash or a player to be named later, the clubs announced Tuesday.

Bell is in the final season of a two-year, $33-million contract he signed with the Cleveland Guardians ahead of the 2023 campaign.
The 31-year-old will provide the Diamondbacks with insurance at first base after Christian Walker left Monday's game with oblique tightness. The Diamondbacks placed Walker on the 10-day injured list with a strained left oblique on Tuesday.
Bell has 14 home runs with 49 RBIs and a .699 OPS across 104 games this season. He's heated up as of late, hitting .310 with six homers and 12 RBIs over his last 58 at-bats.
