The New York Mets might be looking to a familiar face to add more punch to their lineup ahead of the July 30 trade deadline.
The Mets have spoken to the San Francisco Giants about trading for veteran outfielder Michael Conforto, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.
Conforto was a first-round pick of the Mets in 2014 and spent the first seven seasons of his career in New York. He hit 157 home runs with an .824 OPS across 757 games with the Mets.
The 31-year-old is in the final season of a two-year, $36-million contract he signed with the Giants in January 2023.
Conforto has 10 home runs, 40 RBIs, and a .713 OPS in 80 games this season.
