The Washington Nationals are planning to be sellers at the July 30 trade deadline, sources told The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal, Katie Woo, and Patrick Mooney.
The Nationals are taking trade offers on impending free agents Jesse Winker and Dylan Floro and are willing to listen to proposals on outfielder Lane Thomas and relievers Hunter Harvey and Kyle Finnegan, report Rosenthal, Woo, and Mooney.
Washington owns a 42-49 record and has a 0.8% chance of making the postseason, according to FanGraphs.
Winker inked a minor-league contract with the Nationals in February after struggling the last two seasons. The 30-year-old has rebounded in 2024, posting a .818 OPS with 10 home runs, 41 RBIs, 12 stolen bases, and a 135 wRC+ across 88 games.
Floro's 2.06 ERA this season is a career best. The 33-year-old has amassed 1.0 fWAR in 44 appearances.
The Nationals haven't made the playoffs since winning the World Series in 2019. General manager Mike Rizzo's trade of All-Star outfielder Juan Soto to the San Diego Padres in 2022 helped kickstart the franchise's rebuild. Left-hander Mackenzie Gore, shortstop CJ Abrams, and outfielder James Wood have all emerged as key contributors for the Nationals this season.
