The Boston Red Sox acquired catcher Danny Jansen from the Toronto Blue Jays for infielders Cutter Coffey and Eddinson Paulino and right-hander Gilberto Batista.
Jansen is scheduled to become a free agent at the conclusion of the season. He'll provide the Red Sox with catching depth alongside Connor Wong and Reese McGuire and could also see at-bats as a designated hitter.
Jansen was the longest-serving member of the Blue Jays, making his debut in 2018 after being drafted in 2013.
"It's a lot of mixed emotions," Jansen said, according to Sportsnet's Shi Davidi. "I grew up here, became a man here, raised a family. ... It's just a whole lot of emotions."
The 29-year-old has six home runs, 27 runs scored, and 18 RBIs across 61 games this season. He hit a career-high 17 homers with a 116 wRC+ in 86 appearances for the Blue Jays in 2023.
Jansen pulls the ball over 52% of the time for his career, a trait that could play well with the Green Monster in left field at Fenway Park.
Coffey, a second-round pick in 2022, has 14 home runs, 46 RBIs, and a .784 OPS in 61 games at High-A this season. The 20-year-old appeared at second base, shortstop, and third base.
Baseball America ranked Paulino as the No. 18 prospect for the Red Sox. The 22-year-old hit .263 with three home runs, 35 RBIs, and 10 stolen bases at Double-A.
Batista, 19, posted a 3.92 ERA, a 1.50 WHIP, and 23 strikeouts across 20 2/3 innings at Single-A.
The Blue Jays have been active ahead of the trade deadline, also moving relievers Yimi García and Nate Pearson.
