Cubs' Suzuki commits costly error, hits grand slam in same inning

It was a wild ride for Chicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki in the second inning of Saturday's game against the Cincinnati Reds.

Suzuki dropped what looked like a routine fly ball that would have ended the top of the second. Three runs scored on the play and the Reds would add a fourth to take a 4-0 lead.

Suzuki redeemed himself in the bottom half of the inning, delivering a two-out grand slam on a payoff pitch from Reds right-hander Hunter Greene to tie the game.

The grand slam was the first of Suzuki's three-year MLB career. He's the first player in the modern era to commit a three-run error and hit a grand slam in the same game, according to OptaStats.
