The Seattle Mariners fired bench coach and offensive coordinator Brant Brown, the club announced Friday.
Brown was in his first season with the Mariners after previously working with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Miami Marlins.
"Unfortunately, our collective production as the offense kind of led to this decision, and, you know, all of us don't feel too great about that," Mariners outfielder Mitch Hangier said, according to Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times. "Brownie is not the one to blame for that, it's not his fault. So as far as like other reasonings, I have no idea, but we're just trying to get our stuff together and move on."
The Mariners lead the American League West by three games but have struggled to score runs this year.
Seattle ranks 29th in the league in runs scored (211), first in strikeouts (594), and 28th in OPS (.656) through 58 games.
All-Star outfielder Julio Rodríguez has been particularly cold, registering a .652 OPS with four home runs and 21 RBIs in 231 at-bats this campaign.
