Giants put Snell on IL with adductor strain
The San Francisco Giants placed star pitcher Blake Snell on the 15-day injured list with a left adductor strain, the club announced Wednesday.
Right-hander Landen Roupp was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento in a corresponding move.
Snell was scheduled to start Wednesday's series finale against the New York Mets. The Giants are turning to reliever Ryan Walker as part of a bullpen game, according to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle.
Snell felt adductor strain (groin area) when throwing his most recent bullpen. It’s a moderate strain so he could potentially miss more than 15 days. The Giants are assessing rotation options but two off days in the next week will help.

Snell is off to a rocky start in his first season with the Giants. The 31-year-old has posted an 0-3 record with an 11.57 ERA, 1.97 WHIP, and 12 strikeouts over three starts.
The Giants signed Snell on March 19 to a two-year, $62-million contract with an opt-out at the end of the 2024 campaign.
