Rays' Fairbanks 'pretty pissed' after blowing save vs. Angels

Tampa Bay Rays closer Pete Fairbanks was none too pleased after blowing his first save of the season in Wednesday's loss to the Los Angeles Angels.

Fairbanks allowed two runs on three hits and a pair of walks in a 5-4 loss. Angels outfielder Taylor Ward delivered the big blow with an RBI single.

"I thought it generally sucked. I didn't think it was a specific suck. I thought it was like an all-encompassing type of suck," Fairbanks said. "We're gonna try to rectify that, but for right now, I'm gonna be pretty pissed about it."

Fairbanks has struggled so far this season, registering a 9.00 ERA and 2.29 WHIP over his first eight appearances.

"Just not doing what I'm good at," Fairbanks said. "Then you just compound that, and that's when you get beat by the one that flips over the infield."

Fairbanks' batting average on balls in play is a career-worst .444, and his swinging strike percentage is also a career-worst 7.2%.
