Mariners acquire Santos from White Sox in 3-player trade
The Seattle Mariners bolstered their bullpen, acquiring right-hander Gregory Santos from the Chicago White Sox for right-hander Prelander Berroa, outfielder Zach DeLoach, and the 69th pick in the 2024 MLB Draft, the clubs announced Saturday.
Santos enjoyed a breakout season for the White Sox in 2023. The 24-year-old posted a 2-2 record with a 3.39 ERA, five saves, and 66 strikeouts across 66 1/3 innings for the White Sox. Santos won't be eligible for arbitration until after the 2025 campaign.
Berroa made his MLB debut for the Mariners in 2023, striking out three batters in a pair of apperances. The 23-year-old posted excellent numbers at Double-A, registering a 2.89 ERA with an impressive 101 strikeouts in 65 1/3 innings.
DeLoach, 25, slashed .286/.387/.481 with 23 home runs, eight stolen bases, and 88 RBIs in 138 games at Triple-A last season.
