The Pittsburgh Pirates bolstered their starting rotation, agreeing to a one-year, $8-million contract with veteran left-hander Martín Pérez, a source told Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
Pérez spent the last two seasons with the Texas Rangers. He made the AL All-Star team in 2022, posting a 12-8 record with a 2.89 ERA, 3.26 FIP, and 169 strikeouts across 196 1/3 innings.
Pérez went 10-4 with a 4.45 ERA this past season for the World Series champions. He transitioned to a relief role after beginning the season in the starting rotation.
The 32-year-old joins a Pirates rotation that includes Mitch Keller, Marco Gonzales, Luis L. Ortiz, and Bailey Falter.
