Report: Blue Jays, Mariners interested in Rays' Paredes
The Toronto Blue Jays and Seattle Mariners are among the teams interested in trading for Tampa Bay Rays infielder Isaac Paredes, MLB Network's Jon Morosi reports.
Paredes is arbitration-eligible for the first time this offseason. He is projected to earn $3.2 million next season, according to MLB Trade Rumors.
The 24-year-old put together a breakout season for the Rays in 2023, registering an .840 OPS with 31 home runs, 71 runs scored, and 98 RBIs over 143 games.
The Rays acquired Paredes in April 2022 from the Detroit Tigers for outfielder Austin Meadows.
Paredes would be a tremendous boost to both the Blue Jays and Mariners. Toronto ranked 14th in the league in runs scored and 16th in home runs last season. Seattle, meanwhile, ranked 16th in OPS and 12th in home runs in 2023.
