Jason Heyward is staying in Southern California.
The Los Angeles Dodgers and Heyward agreed to a one-year, $9-million contract, pending a physical, a source told ESPN's Kiley McDaniel.
The 34-year-old outfielder spent the 2023 campaign with the Dodgers, registering an .813 OPS with 15 home runs and 40 RBIs across 124 games.
Heyward posted a strong 121 wRC+ last season after registering marks of 61 and 70 with the Chicago Cubs over the previous two campaigns.
The Dodgers utilized Heyward in a strict platoon role with all 98 of his starts coming against right-handed pitching. He hit .276 with 34 extra-base hits in 349 plate appearances against right-handed pitching in 2023.
Heyward was excellent defensively last season, ranking in the 91st percentile in Statcast's outs above average and amassing three defensive runs saved.
