Yankees trade Bauers to Brewers for pair of minor-league outfielders

The Milwaukee Brewers acquired IF/OF Jake Bauers from the New York Yankees for minor-league outfielders Jace Avina and Brian Sánchez, the clubs announced Friday.

Bauers hit 12 home runs with 28 runs scored and 30 RBIs across 84 games in his lone season with the Yankees in 2023. The 28-year-old is a career .211 hitter with 39 home runs, 140 RBIs, and 18 stolen bases over four seasons.

Avina, 20, hit .233 with 14 home runs, 50 RBIs, and 10 stolen bases at Single-A last season. He was Milwaukee's No. 29-ranked prospect, according to MLB.com.

The 19-year-old Sánchez hit .297 with 19 RBIs and eight stolen bases across 33 games in the Dominican Summer League in 2023.
