The Toronto Blue Jays want Matt Chapman back.

Toronto is making a strong push to keep the Gold Glove third baseman, according to MLB Network's Jon Heyman.

Chapman spent the last two seasons with the Blue Jays after he was acquired in a trade with the Oakland Athletics in March 2022.

The 30-year-old turned down a contract extension from the Blue Jays in the area of four or five years for more than $100 million, according to TSN's Scott Mitchell.

The San Francisco Giants have also shown interest in Chapman, Heyman reports.

Chapman struggled at the plate for the majority of 2023 after winning AL Player of the Month in April. He finished the season hitting .240 with a .754 OPS, 17 home runs, and 54 RBIs across 140 games.

Chapman continues to rank among the game's best defenders at third base, as he added a fourth Gold Glove to his mantle in 2023.
