Report: World Series Game 1 draws lowest ratings for Fall Classic opener

Game 1 of the World Series between the Texas Rangers and Arizona Diamondbacks was an instant classic, but that apparently wasn't reflected by the viewership.

The opening contest of the Fall Classic was the least-watched World Series Game 1 in history with 9.18 million viewers, according to Austin Karp of Sports Business Journal.

Game 1 of the 2020 World Series in the pandemic-shortened campaign was the previous low with 9.27 million viewers, per Karp.

The Rangers and Diamondbacks will continue the World Series with Game 3 on Monday night. The best-of-seven series is tied 1-1.
