Dodgers' Roberts: Starting Kershaw in Game 4 'the only option'

Despite getting shelled in a Game 1 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks, Los Angeles Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw earned a vote of confidence from manager Dave Roberts.

Roberts reiterated Sunday that he'll turn to Kershaw for a potential Game 4 of the NLDS.

"For me, that's the best option, and I see it as the only option," Roberts said, according to Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times.

Kershaw recorded just one out while allowing six runs on six hits in the Dodgers' worst home playoff loss since moving to Los Angeles in 1958.

Roberts knows there's a heightened sense of urgency after dropping the first game of a short series.

"I'm going to manage Game 2 like it's Game 7," he said. "And I'm going to do the same for Game 3. And I do think that's kind of how the fallout will be."

The Dodgers will look to pull even in the best-of-five series when the two teams play Game 2 on Monday night. Los Angeles will turn to rookie right-hander Bobby Miller, while Arizona will counter with its ace, Zac Gallen.
