Report: Blue Jays' Manoah out for season after right-arm injections
Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Alek Manoah won't pitch again this season after he received multiple injections to his throwing arm, sources told Sportsnet's Ben Nicholson-Smith.
The injections were administered to reduce inflammation and discomfort, per Nicholson-Smith.
Manoah hasn't appeared in a game at any level since an Aug. 10 start against the Cleveland Guardians. He was demoted to Triple-A Buffalo following that outing but never pitched for the Bisons.
Doctors haven't found any structural issues, muscle damage, or ligament tears after examining Manoah, Nicholson-Smith reports.
Manoah struggled to build off last year's AL Cy Young finalist finish. The 25-year-old finishes 2023 with a 3-9 record, a 5.87 ERA, 79 strikeouts, and 59 walks across 87 1/3 innings pitched.
