Arizona Diamondbacks president and CEO Derrick Hall hopes general manager Mike Hazen remains with the club amid rumors that the Boston Red Sox are interested in making him Chaim Bloom's successor.

"They haven't contacted me," Hall said, according to Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic. "And I hope they don't. He's under contract, and we like him."

Hazen served as the Red Sox general manager from 2015-16 under president of baseball operations David Dombrowski.

"He and I are always having conversations about his future," Hall said. "He's got a full year, then a club option on top of that, so there's still plenty of time on the contract. I can't envision us going a different direction with what he's built and his (leadership) team."

Hazen has been with the Diamondbacks since 2017, leading the club to the postseason in his first year.

The Red Sox fired Bloom as chief baseball officer last Thursday after nearly four seasons with the franchise.
