Colorado Rockies right-hander Antonio Senzatela suffered a setback during his rehab from a right elbow sprain and requires Tommy John surgery, manager Bud Black said Friday, according to Patrick Lyons of DNVR.

Senzatela, 28, began the 2023 campaign on the injured list after undergoing surgery for a torn ACL last August. He made his season debut in early May but left his second start with a UCL sprain.

The righty allowed four runs on seven hits, including three homers, and two walks over 7 2/3 innings this year. Over his seven-year career, he possesses a 4.87 ERA and 4.41 FIP in 679 2/3 innings.

Senzatela is one of several starting pitchers currently sidelined for the Rockies, along with German Marquez, Ryan Feltner, and ace Kyle Freeland. The latter sustained a shoulder injury to his non-throwing arm right before the All-Star break. Freeland doesn't require surgery but there is no timetable for his return.
