New York Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo hasn't hit a home run since late May and is growing disheartened by the power outage and overall lack of productivity at the plate.
"When you're off mechanically, it sucks," Rizzo said, according to the New York Post's Dan Martin. "You fight for it and it comes back in a swing."
Rizzo's last home run came May 24 when he went deep in a game against the Cincinnati Reds. The 33-year-old is hitting just .178 with a .215 slugging percentage and eight RBIs in 31 games since his last homer.
"You want to help the team win, and when you don't, it's frustrating," Rizzo said.
Rizzo missed time earlier in the season with a neck injury but is refusing to use that as an excuse for his struggles at the plate.
"I don't think there's anything residual (from the injury)," Rizzo said. "I'm just not hitting to my standard, and it's frustrating, personally, but this is part of being a baseball player."
Rizzo is slashing .260/.355/.412 with 11 home runs and 38 RBIs across 341 plate appearances this season.
