Braves' Elder has no issue with Alonso taunting after hitting HR
Atlanta Braves right-hander Bryce Elder had no problem with New York Mets slugger Pete Alonso taunting him after hitting a home run during Tuesday's game.
Alonso walloped a hanging 1-2 slider from Elder an estimated 448 feet for his 22nd home run of the season. Microphones in the Mets' dugout picked up Alonso yelling at Elder to "throw it again, please."
"If I hit one onto the concourse, I might holler, too," Elder said, per Bally Sports South. "I don't know. I've never hit a homer."
The Braves stormed back from a four-run deficit to edge the Mets 6-4, handing New York its fourth consecutive loss.
Braves reliever Tyler Matzek appeared to mock Alonso as Atlanta mounted its rally to retake the lead.
The Braves and Mets will resume their series on Wednesday evening at Truist Park in Atlanta. New York trails Atlanta by 6.5 games for first place in the NL East.
