The St. Louis Cardinals' surprising struggles continued Tuesday as they fell 6-4 to the Texas Rangers to lose their fifth consecutive game.

The loss dropped the Cardinals to 25-37 on the season, and they currently sit in the basement of the NL Central, trailing the Milwaukee Brewers by 8.5 games.

"It's frustrating, for sure," Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol said, according to MLB.com's Jalyn Smoot. "On nights that we hit, we give up more runs, and on nights that we don't hit, our pitchers have done a nice job. It just hasn't lined up in a way where it equals a win. So, we have to show up tomorrow and take our best shot again. But is it frustrating? Absolutely. It's incredibly frustrating."

The Cardinals are 0-5 in June after finishing May with a 15-8 stretch to close the gap in the standings.

St. Louis will look to avoid a three-game sweep at the hands of the Rangers when the two clubs conclude their series on Wednesday night at Globe Life Field in Arlington.
