The Cleveland Guardians are sending right-hander Zach Plesac to Triple-A Columbus amid early season struggles, according to MLB.com's Mandy Bell.
The 28-year-old owns a 7.59 ERA and 4.58 FIP over five starts and 21 1/3 innings so far this year. His most recent outing came against the Boston Red Sox and was particularly rough, giving up five runs on eight hits and one walk over 3 1/3 innings while striking out one.
Plesac was in line to start on Friday against the Minnesota Twins. However, Peyton Battenfield will get that rotation spot, while rookies Logan Allen and Tanner Bibee maintain their spots on staff as well.
The Guardians haven't yet made a corresponding roster move to call up another player from the minors or reinstate a player from the injured list.
