Braves' d'Arnaud placed on concussion IL after home-plate collision

The Atlanta Braves placed catcher Travis d'Arnaud on the seven-day concussion injured list Sunday after he left Saturday's game against the San Diego Padres following a home-plate collision.

"I'm sure he's going on that seven-day concussion IL," Braves manager Brian Snitker said following the team's 4-1 loss, also acknowledging that d'Arnaud has previously suffered concussions.

The Braves catcher was removed from the game after being involved in a collision at the plate with Rougned Odor during the fourth inning. Sean Murphy replaced d'Arnaud behind the dish for the remainder of the game.

The 34-year-old d'Arnaud started the campaign 11-for-33 with five RBIs, splitting time behind the plate with Murphy. The former All-Star was making his fourth start at catcher and had also made four starts as the designated hitter.

Murphy, 28, was acquired this past offseason from the Oakland Athletics in a blockbuster three-team deal. The former Gold Glove winner is 3-for-17 to start the year with a pair of RBIs.

Atlanta recalled catcher Chadwick Tromp from Triple-A Gwinnett on Sunday in a corresponding roster move.

D'Arnaud is the latest Braves player to land on the IL, joining outfielder Michael Harris II, left-handed starter Max Fried, righty Kyle Wright, and closer Raisel Iglesias, among others.
