Signing Bonus: $50k
2024: $9M
2025: $9M
2026 club option: $9M / buyout $500k
Alvarado was scheduled to reach free agency after the 2023 season but agreed to a one-year, $3.45-million contract with the Phillies last week to avoid arbitration.
Philadelphia acquired Alvarado from the Tampa Bay Rays in a three-team trade in December 2020. He owns an 11-3 record with a 3.71 ERA and 149 strikeouts across 106 2/3 innings pitched over two seasons with the Phillies.
The 27-year-old emerged as one of manager Rob Thomson's most trusted relievers in 2022. He racked up a career-high 81 strikeouts in 51 innings with a 3.18 ERA over 59 appearances last season.
Alvarado's extension marks the second in as many days for a Phillies reliever. The club also inked right-hander Seranthony Dominguez to a two-year deal with a club option for 2025 on Thursday.
