The New York Mets and outfielder Tommy Pham agreed to a deal pending a physical, a source told SNY's Andy Martino.

The agreement is worth $6 million and also includes another $2 million in potential incentives, according to ESPN's Buster Olney.

Pham spent the 2022 campaign with the Cincinnati Reds and Boston Red Sox, registering a .686 OPS with 17 home runs, 63 RBIs, and eight stolen bases across 144 games.

The 34-year-old also made headlines off the field for his feud with San Francisco Giants outfielder Joc Pederson over a dispute surrounding a fantasy football league both participated in. Pham slapped Pederson before a game in May and was subsequently suspended for three games.

Pham will provide the Mets with some outfield depth and an option at designated hitter. The veteran excels against left-handed pitching, owning a career .843 OPS against southpaws.

The addition of Pham marks the Mets' first notable move since their agreement with Carlos Correa fell apart. Mets general manager Billy Eppler said Tuesday that he's confident in the club's lineup but admitted it can still look for ways to improve.

"I think we have a strong and deep lineup, and I am confident in our group’s ability to score runs, but … you can always be better," Eppler said, according to the New York Post's Mike Puma.

The Mets finished inside the top 10 in the league in runs and OPS last season.
