The Chicago White Sox have upgraded their outfield with the addition of free agent Andrew Benintendi, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan.

Benintendi, who spent last season split between the Kansas City Royals and New York Yankees, agreed to a five-year, $75-million deal, Passan reports.

It's the largest guaranteed contract in White Sox history, $2 million more than the $73 million Yasmani Grandal signed for in 2019. However, Grandal's deal was for four years with a higher annual value.

The Yankees acquired Benintendi in a trade with the Royals on July 27 just prior to the deadline. He hit .254 with a pair of home runs and 12 RBIs in his 33 games with New York. Overall, Benintendi put up a .304/.373/.399 slash line in 2022 with a career-low five dingers and 51 RBIs.

Despite the lack of power, the 28-year-old was named an All-Star for the first time this past season, though that was partly due to a lack of other options on the Royals.

Benintendi won a Gold Glove in 2021 and was the AL Rookie of the Year runner-up to Aaron Judge in 2017. He also captured a World Series title with the Boston Red Sox in 2018.
