Phillies extend Dombrowski's contract through 2027
The Philadelphia Phillies and president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski agreed to a three-year contract extension, tying the executive to the franchise through the 2027 season, the team announced Tuesday.
Dombrowski joined the Phillies ahead of the 2021 campaign and oversaw the franchise's stirring run to the World Series last season.
Dombrowski is known for his aggressive nature when trying to improve his clubs and push them toward contention. The Phillies fired manager Joe Girardi in June and replaced him with bench coach Rob Thomson, who led the club to a 65-46 record and a postseason berth.
Dombrowski also acquired outfielder Brandon Marsh, right-hander Noah Syndergaard, and reliever David Robertson at the trade deadline. All three players contributed to the Phillies' run in October.
The 66-year-old is a two-time executive of the year and has also spent time with the Chicago White Sox, Montreal Expos, Florida Marlins, Detroit Tigers, and Boston Red Sox during his career.
