The New York Yankees will begin the postseason missing another key arm in their bullpen.

New York is placing right-hander Ron Marinaccio on the injured list with a stress reaction in his shin, manager Aaron Boone announced Tuesday.

Boone added that the team hopes Marinaccio will be available for a potential American League Championship Series appearance, according to MLB.com's Bryan Hoch.

Marinaccio, 27, has emerged as a quality bullpen option for the Yankees. The rookie owns a 2.05 ERA with 56 strikeouts across 44 innings (40 appearances) this season.

Marinaccio joins closer Clay Holmes and left-hander Zack Britton on the injured list. The Yankees hope Holmes can return from his shoulder strain at some point during the American League Division Series, while Britton won't play this postseason due to arm fatigue.
