Report: Mets' deGrom to make season debut Tuesday vs. Nationals
The New York Mets are getting their ace back.
Two-time NL Cy Young winner Jacob deGrom is slated to come off of the injured list and make his 2022 season debut against the Washington Nationals on Tuesday at Nationals Park, according to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com.
DeGrom has been sidelined since spring training when an MRI revealed a stress fracture in his right scapula. The right-hander played catch Friday as a final rehabilitation effort.
The 34-year-old will join a rotation with offseason recruit and fellow ace Max Scherzer, who's also had his campaign shortened by injury. The three-time Cy Young winner owns a 2.09 ERA and 2.50 FIP over 13 starts. Chris Bassitt, Carlos Carrasco, and Taijuan Walker complete the five-man rotation.
DeGrom was limited to 15 starts last year but was as dominant as ever, authoring an immaculate 1.08 ERA and 1.24 FIP while battling right forearm tightness.
