Ahead of the Giants' much-anticipated series with the Cincinnati Reds, San Francisco outfielder Joc Pederson is hoping fans don't show too much vitriol toward Reds outfielder Tommy Pham.

"There's a respect level that needs to be held up, and when you see games in New York or wherever they were, where they start throwing stuff on the field, that is not OK and doesn't help any situation," Pederson said Thursday, according to the San Francisco Chronicle's Susan Slusser. "It makes it so much worse. So just keep it respectful."

The Reds are in San Francisco for the first time since the infamous incident in May where Pham slapped Pederson over a fantasy football dispute. MLB suspended Pham for three games.

When asked how he expects Giants fans to react to him, Pham smiled and said, "Clapping," according to the Cincinnati Enquirer's Bobby Nightengale.
