The Minnesota Twins and right-handed pitcher Aaron Sanchez have agreed to a minor-league contract, Twins vice president of communications and content Dustin Morse announced.
The 29-year-old will report to Triple-A St. Paul.
Sanchez posted an 8.33 ERA and 5.47 FIP in 31 1/3 innings across seven starts this year with the Washington Nationals before being designated for assignment.
If Sanchez appears for the Twins, it will be the former All-Star's fifth different team since 2019. He's made stops with the Toronto Blue Jays, Houston Astros, San Francisco Giants, and Nationals.
Sanchez won the AL ERA title in 2016 while with the Jays, authoring a 3.00 ERA over 192 innings and finishing with some down-ballot Cy Young consideration.
Since then, though, Sanchez has struggled both with injuries and consistency, owning a 5.34 ERA over 69 starts and a pair of relief appearances.
The Twins are dealing with myriad injuries to the starting rotation. They recently placed Sonny Gray on the injured list with a strained pectoral. Gray joined Opening Day starter Joe Ryan, Bailey Ober, Chris Paddack, Randy Dobnak, and Kenta Maeda on the sidelines.
