Detroit Tigers shortstop Javier Baez was ejected from Monday's game against the Oakland Athletics after arguing balls and strikes, and manager A.J. Hinch was quick to have the superstar's back.

"Javy said nothing that he wouldn't say in front of your mother," Hinch said following the game, according to Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic. "He was just saying he thought it was a ball, he thought he had a tough night. I didn't think he needed to be thrown out at that point with me standing in between them."

Video of the exchange between Baez and home plate umpire Nick Mahrley seems to show the two-time All-Star saying the strikeout pitch had been called a ball all night before stating "you don't give a fuck."

At some point, someone off screen - possibly Baez - again seems to yell "you don't give a fuck."

To Baez's credit, Baseball Savant's pitch-tracking software suggests the Silver Slugger has a case:

Hinch was also ejected for his role in the argument.

It was the only strikeout of the night for Baez, who went 1-for-4 after singling in the first inning.

The Gold Glove winner is now hitting .237/.284/.382 with two homers over 19 games so far this year.

The Tigers wound up losing Monday's tilt to the AL West's last-place Oakland Athletics 2-0, dropping to a lowly 8-20 on the season. Detroit has now lost six straight games and 12 of their last 14.
